Abstract
THE TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT OF BUS PRIJORITY SCHEMES IS DISCUSSED. AFTER AN INITIAL CONSIDERATION OF THE VARIOUS POSSIBLE CONFIGURATIONS, NOTE IS MADE OF THE USE OF PART-TIME, WITH-FLOW BUS LANES AND STANDARDS OF LANE WIDTHS AND TRAFFIC FLOW THAT HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED ARE SET OUT. PEDESTRIAN AND SERVICING FACILITIES ARE DISCUSSED. SOME INTERESTING SCHEMES EITHER IN OPERATION OR SHORTLY TO BE IMPLEMENTED, AND FURTHER IDEAS UNDER CONSIDERATION ARE DESCRIBED. IN CONCLUSION, THE RANGE OF COSTS AND EXPECTED BENEFITS ARE GIVEN IN BROAD TERMS. /IRRD/
