Abstract
This paper describes and compares crossing devices used by Light Rail Transit (LRT in the United States, Canada, and Europe to control pedestrian travel across LRT tracks and to warn pedestrians about the presence of an LRV. The paper also describes regulatory and warning devices (both passive and active), delineation markings, and positive control devices. The paper discusses the installation and effectiveness of the devices.
