Abstract
Based on plasticity theory, the anti-slip stability of retaining wall is analyzed by regarding the retaining wall, fill and foundation as a whole. This analytical method need not calculate earth pressure, and can give the minimum value of anti-slip safety factor. The limit formula of anti-slip stability is established in this paper. Through the analysis of examples, it is proposed that present anti-slip stability judgement based on single safety factor is partial, and should be done based on double safety factor.
