THIS REPORT WAS PRESENTED AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS IN SALZBURG, 12-21 FEBRUARY, 1975. THE AUTHOR CLASSIFIES FRENCH AERODROMES ACCORDING TO CLIMATIC CONDITIONS, THICKNESS OF SNOW AND FREQUENCY OF BLACK ICE. THE METHODS USED ARE REVIEWED: SNOW REMOVAL BY MECHANICAL OR THERMAL MEANS, DE-ICING WITH DE-ICING SALTS. BASED ON THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY, THE TYPICAL EQUIPMENT TO BE USED IS SUMMARIZED AS A FUNCTION OF THE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS, AREA COVERED WITH SNOW AND TRAFFIC ON THE RUNWAYS.
