Abstract

The object of this paper is to analyze the experience to date of the operation of the high speed lines both with and without mixed traffic. This paper includes also the evaluation of the vertical stresses exerted by the vehicles capable of using the high speed lines: specialized passenger trains together with conventional passenger trains composed of locomotives and carriages, with the addition of modern freight wagons. Finally, this paper includes the currently available criteria in order to evaluate the deterioration of the infrastructure and superstructure of the track as a function of the main variables that characterize the traffic of a particular line. For the covering abstract see ITRD E125214.
