Abstract

Maintenance planning models for transit vehicles have for long concentrated on very specific areas. This paper discusses a model that links together most of the pertinent and wide ranging factors involved in optimal transit maintenance planning in a single model with a resultant tradeoff in cost of maintenance vis a vis the number of vehicle failures in service. The versatility of the model is illustrated with generated data.
