Drug prevention with young people: Defining the model and evaluating effects

Abstract

Based on research, this paper defines drug prevention and delineates the concepts and strategies which are central to its successful application with young people. Since this theory forms the basis for accurate research into the effects of drug prevention programmes, evaluation issues (methodology; data collection, analysis/interpretation and presentation) specific to drug prevention are presented. Research studies reporting the successes of drug prevention programmes are also presented.
