Abstract
To fulfill the requirements of New York regional transportation, land use, and air quality study, a best practice model system including both travel demand and land use models is being developed for analyzing travel and location choices in the New York Metropolitan region. In order to analyze the effects of changes in land use patterns on the travel demands and test what-if scenarios regarding alternative land use policies, a land use model system should be incorporated in the analytical procedure of travel choice. Since the land use models were developed based on different theories and designed for solving different problems, it is essential for transportation analysts to study the feasibility of application of land use models based on local information.
