SEAKEEPING QUESTIONNAIRE ANALYSIS

British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT) is involved in a project entitled 'Development of Seakeeping Performance Criteria for Ships.' The ultimate aim of the project is to produce a 'Seakeeping Manual' and an associated computer software system to give guidance on good design practice in terms of seakeeping performance and provide operational information for improved vessel operations. To gather the kind of realistic information needed about the seakeeping behavior of a variety of vessel types, a questionnaire was distributed to experienced seafarers and this article analyzes the responses received.
