Abstract
To meet the requirements of a more integrated transportation infrastructure, the various European high speed rail networks are being harmonized to ensure free and unrestricted international access for both freight and passenger trains. To meet the obviously stringent operational and technical requirements, railway authorities and the European railway industry are working closely together to meet tight harmonization schedules. This article takes a brief look at the new ICE 3 high speed train built by a consortium headed by Siemens AG, which meets requirements for pan-European operation.
