Abstract
THIS STUDY FORMS PART OF A SERIES OF STUDIES BY THE SDAU OF THE GRENOBLE REGION, GIVING PRIORITY TO PUBLIC TRANSPORT. IT ALSO SERVES AS A LONG-TERM PLAN TO ENSURE THE COHERENCE OF ALL SHORT-TERM OPERATIONS, SUCH AS THE RE-STRUCTURING OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK, THE RESERVATION OF CORRIDORS FOR CERTAIN TRANSPORT LINES AND THE RESERVATION OF PARTICULAR LANES FOR BUSES. THIS STUDY HAS THREE OBJECTIVES: (1) TO VERIFY THE POSSIBILITY OF SETTING UP A PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM WITH AN EXCLUSIVE RIGHT-OF-WAY AS A FUNCTION OF THE ESTIMATED NUMBER OF USERS IN 1985; (2) TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO EVALUATE, FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF NETWORKS, THE SERVICE GIVEN TO THE USERS; (3) TO SUPPLY STATISTICS WHICH WOULD ASSIST IN THE CHOICE OF A LONG-TERM PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK.
