Abstract

The Milton-Madison Bridge, a 3,181 ft long cantilever through truss structure, spans the Ohio River to link Milton, Kentucky and Madison, Indiana. The 81-year-old bridge is being replaced using an innovative design and construction approach to fully rehabilitate the bridge. This method entails building a new superstructure downstream of the existing bridge and then sliding it onto the existing rehabilitated piers. The bridge replacement will require only 10 days of closure to traffic.
