Abstract

Are Judaism and Zionism inseparable? Not all Jews are Zionists; many Jews are anti-Zionists. Yet, for many other Jews, the very nature of being Jewish in the modern world is at the heart of being Zionist. Avika Orr examines the politics and ideology of Zionism and the sociology of Israel. Orr demystifies the concepts of the 'Jewish state' and the 'state of the Jews' and explores three key topics: Israeli politics, Jewish identity and socialist policy on the national question.
