Abstract
This paper presents an overview of some of the recent innovations in Australian pavement technology, There have been significant improvements to design systems for pavements as well as the development of cost-effective systems using geotextile seals to improve pavement performance for heavy duty and light duty pavements. The structural rehabilitation of pavements using recycling technology has progressed significantly and is providing value for money and improved resource usage. Pavement wearing surfaces have been the subject of considerable research leading to improved asphalt technology, introduction of reinforced sprayed seals and innovative thin and ultra thin overlays. The paper also looks at methods of innovation and acceptance of new technologies.
