Abstract

Although transport electronic payment systems is only one of a number of the key uses of smart cards in the transportation sector, this paper aims to provide a perspective on some of the recent activities associated with the development and deployment of smart-card based systems in this specific area. Before looking specifically at the applications and services of smart cards in transport the full paper will review some of the key issues associated with the wider issue of smart cards in transport
