Abstract

Many regions of Japan subject to heavy snowfall in winter are densely populated. In such areas, ensuring traffic flow in winter is a vital issue. Thus the topic of rapid and effective snow removal management has become very important. Consequently, the Ministry of Construction is working to improve the work efficiency of snow-moving machinery and promoting the development of some assistance systems based on the collection of real-time data (climate, road conditions, location of machinery, machinery operating conditions).
