Abstract
This paper describes the development of a maintenance management system using condition and performance monitoring as the main influence in determining when maintenance should be done. A summary of fifteen years operating experience of this system is given. The authors indicate that the system has proved effective and has shown benefits in reduced maintenance manhours and spare gear usage. The parallels which exist in terms or process plant applications are identified and computer technology used within the system is indicated.
