Abstract
Concreting in hot weather has been frequently addressed in Israeli research. This paper summaries several studies concerning the effects of admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials on fresh concrete properties. Topics addressed include: the effect of retarders and fly ash on slump loss; the usefulness of retempering for long haul periods and extreme weather conditions; and the effect of environmental factors, retarders, cement and mineral admixtures and water content on plastic shrinkage. The cited research suggests that the use of admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials can be beneficial during hot weather concreting.
