Abstract
A triple-layer space truss, furnishing an equivalent continuum equation that has the form of the orthotropic plate equation, is used as a means for analysing rectangular, orthotropic plates. Two comparison examples for a square plate are presented for a uniformly distributed load and a concentrated load. An oscillatory form of convergence to the exact results is noted as the mesh size of the truss is refined. Agreement between central deflections from the comparison examples is good enough to warrant the use of a truss programme for the analysis of rectangular plates. (Author/TRRL)
