Abstract
AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO ESTIMATE FUTURE TRAFFIC VOLUMES FROM PREVIOUS DEVELOPMENT BY MEANS OF EXTRAPOLATION. BECAUSE OF VARIATIONS IN FREIGHT AND PASSENGER TRANSPORT, FORECASTS HAVE TO BE MADE ON A REGIONAL BASIS, AND NEED TO BE CORRECTED WITH THE AID OF TRAFFIC COUNTS WHICH ARE BEING CARRIED OUT CONTINUOUSLY. NORMAL TRAFFIC AND RECREATIONAL TRAFFIC ARE FORECAST SEPARATELY. THE VARIOUS METHODS USED TO DETERMINE HOURLY TRAFFIC VOLUMES ARE COMPARED, AND FORECASTS OF TRAFFIC VOLUMES FROM EACH COUNTING POINT ARE GIVEN IN TABLES. SEE ALSO IRRD ABSTRACT NO. 300450.
