Abstract
Intersections at Grade has been prepared to ensure a consistent and appropriate approach to intersection design across Australia and New Zealand. It provides information to assist traffic engineers and road designers to develop intersection layouts that suit conditions at particular sites. This publication describes the many factors that influence the design of intersections, such as the speed and volume of traffic, the types of road users and vehicles to be accommodated, topography, environment and human factors. In particular, it provides guidance on the geometric design of the various aspects that are important to the safety and efficiency of intersections. However, the design of an intersection may require reference to other publications in the Austroads Guide to Traffic engineering Practice series. (a)
