Dual mode transportation: making public transport work

Abstract

A realistic proposal for making public transport more effective is long overdue and this article proposes a new approach to increasing the level of rail patronage in Melbourne. The author shows the use of bicycles to get to public transport is increasing rail patronage overseas, and suggests that better bicycle hire and storage facilities at railway stations would increase patronage here too.
