Abstract
Injury mechanisms and several parameters influencing side impact collisions are explained. The need for compatibility in geometry and stiffness between front and side is demonstrated, and a mobile deformable barrier representing an average European car could be used as a loading device to check improved protection in side impacts. For the covering abstract of the conference see TRIS 391971. (TRRL)
