Abstract
The research upon which this paper is based developed analysis methods for two freeway system components: ramp multiple weaves, and single lane freeway (right side) ramp configurations. This project addressed some of the more common single lane ramp configurations including isolated on-ramps, isolated off-ramps, consecutive on-ramps, and on-off ramp combinations. Additionally a ramp weave closely followed by another off-ramp (a multiple weave) was also studied for insights into system behavior. In the interest of brevity, this paper will demonstrate the application of this methodology by focusing on only a single site type, the on/off-ramp combination for an eight-lane urban freeway.
