Abstract

Information technologies have played an essential role in the organization and management of public transport. It is clear that Intelligent Public Transport Systems (IPTS) holds the key to the public transport of tomorrow. The article briefly discusses the following areas that will be the focus of the IPTS of tomorrow: safety, electronic ticketing, fare collection, and passenger information systems.
