Abstract
This document reports on requirements for design of parking facilities at public transport interchanges, and presents a proposal for such requirements. One of the most important issues for public transport operators, is how to arrange convenient private car parking facilities in connection with large public transport interchanges. Several factors indicate that this issue will grow in importance. The importance of good parking facilites differs for different kind of journeys, and also the requirements on the design; the daily commuter values short walking-distance and low cost, while the occasional long-distance traveller requires a sheltered and safe facility. The number of passengers passing through, as well as the composition of the service attended have influence on the number of parking places required. (A)
