Abstract
This book describes, through photographs, the fate of the tiger from the early days of the Ranthambore Sanctuary and Project Tiger, through the present, taking a look into the future of the tiger in the new millennium. An essay by Thapar evokes the first few years of the santuary and goes on to discuss the difficulties of tiger conservation in an economically backward and overpopulated country like India. It brings alive the fascination of observing the secret life of this predominantly nocturnal animal.
