24. LTPP in the Nordic countries

In January 1986 the road laboratories of the Nordic countries decided to ask and were accepted in participation in the SHRP-LTPP studies. Since then, a great deal of effort has been put into setting up a Nordic LTPP-study, parallel to the U.S. study. At the last LTPP workshop, September 1989 in Sweden, the Nordic countries proposed to run a GPS pilot study in cooperation with SHRP. The paper outlines the pilot study plan and highlights the minimum requirements, set up by SHRP, for international involvement in the LTPP-study. Finally, it gives the current status of the pilot study.
