Abstract

The study regarding the analysis and use of existing trip generation rates resulted in two reports: Site Impact Traffic Evaluation (S.I.T.E.) Handbook: This report documents the site access study process in detail. As noted in the report, the trip generation estimation procedure is a critical step in the seven phase site access study. Four case studies are presented that demonstrate the use of trip generation rates and analyze the sensitivity of site related traffic to trip rates, trip distribution patterns and other key variables. Development and Application of Trip Generation Rates: This report presents an overview of the data sources on trip generation rates. Updated trip generation rates are presented along with factors for adjusting trip rates due to variations in residential characteristics. The use of trip rates is described. While each of the two reports is an independent document, they complement each other, and the user would benefit from reading both reports.
