USE OF HIGHWAY ADVISORY RADIO WITHIN THE I-95 CORRIDOR COALITION

Abstract
With the March 29, 1993 I-95 Northeast corridor priority designation for IVHS, the I-95 Corridor Coalition was formed to focus on bringing the Northeast corridor's transportation system into the 21st Century. A business plan was prepared by the I-95 Northeast Consultants and adopted by the I-95 Corridor Coalition. The ninth project in this plan focuses on the development of Coordinated VMS/HAR strategies within the corridor. Under the direction of the I-95 Northeast Consultants, information on existing and planned activities of coalition members in the areas of variable message signs (VMS) and highway advisory radio (HAR) has been assembled. It is the information collected on these HAR activities that is the subject of this paper.
