Abstract

The main purpose of ice control of Japanese expressways is to ensure safety driving and not to close expressways due to bad weather (i.e. secure traffic) up to present. This ice control has been carried out to meet needs of each expressway and area in ways of the collection of weather (forecast), snow ice removal and anti-freezing work and information service. As for future ice control work, more precise collection and more efficient ice control management are needed to ensure safety driving and secure traffic, together with further operating cost reduction. For covering abstract see ITRD E143097.
