Abstract
This article profiles New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) and its executive director, George Warrington, who has been involved with New Jersey Transit for over 25 years. The article first looks at Warrington’s previous transportation experience, with focus on his tenure at the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), the Delaware River Port Authority, and Amtrak. It then focuses on NJ Transit, including its commuter and light rail line, as well as its bus systems, which has one of the largest fleets in the U.S. The article also discusses NJ Transit’s commitment to transit oriented development, and THE (Trans-Hudson Express) Tunnel, which is NJ Transit’s connection to New York City that is designed to double the number of trains servicing Manhattan in peak periods.
