Abstract

The economic situation in developing countries is usually that, due to limited industrial production, the country is importing more than it is exporting. This imbalance is reflected in serious empty container storage problems in the ports of developing countries, as shipping companies seek export cargoes and try to store containers longer than is desirable from the point of view of the port. The port used as a example in this paper is Chittagong in Bangladesh.
