Abstract

This article previews 2003 model year trucks and alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), reflecting the growing use of alternative fuels in public fleets. The Department of Energy (DOE) estimates more than 5,600 refueling stations are dispensing alternative fuels. A DOE web site offering information on fuel availability and the location of fueling stations is available at: www.afdc.doe.gov. Ford Motor Co., GMS, Chevrolet, Sterling Truck, Mitsubishi, Peterbilt. Mack, Freightliner Trucks, Toyota Motor Sales, International Truck and Engine, DaimlerChrysler Motors, and Western Star Trucks are represented. Web sites are listed for each vehicle supplier offering details on each company's model lineup.
