Abstract

The use of semiconductor power devices in the commutatorless, three-phase asynchronous motor for traction is discussed. The advantages compared with commonly used commutator motors are pointed out. The power supply installations are described. The possibility of attaining a power factor greater than 0.96 at full load is reported.
