Abstract
The purpose of this research is to estimate the time-reduction effects of the VICS (Vehicle Information and Communicaton System) service as a social infrastructure utilizing the dynamic traffic simulator. Based on the evaluation of Kanazawa City, it turned out that travel time is reduced by approximately 20% for 3M-VICS vehicles, approximately 10% for FM-VICS vehicles and under 10% for vehicles without VICS-units, demonstrating the social effects of providing VICS information. Also, if infrared beacons were additionally installed, these simulations would be done with approximately 30% reduction of time for 3M-VICS vehicles, inferring that the more spread of 3M-VICS-units to be installed in vehicles is quantitatively effective as a social measure to ease traffic jams.
