'Survive the Ride!': motorcycle safety program

Motorcyclists are a unique road user group with specific needs and safety concerns. In order to gain a better understanding of the issues faced by motorcyclists, the Road Safety Officers of three northern Sydney councils worked closely with key stakeholders in the motorcycling industry to develop the Survive the Ride motorcycle safety program. This paper details the strategies, the problems which arose and the resultant program which was then successfully implemented. It touches on the positive lessons learnt and some aspects which were not so successful.
