Abstract
This study evaluates the technical feasibility about the use of ground tire rubber in pavement construction to explore a new market direction in Taiwan. The ground tire rubber was introduced in the binder at elevated temperatures and mixed with a gap graded aggregate mixture. A prototype asphalt rubber blender was fabricated to provide uniform blend of asphalt rubber for the hot mix asphalt concrete plant. A 1-year field evaluation program was finished to compare the performance between the conventional and the asphalt rubber overlay for rehabilitated pavements.
