Abstract

This book examines studies of rail passenger economics and presents information about Amtrak, also known as the National Railroad Passenger Corporation. The table of contents lists the following chapter headings: Chapter I. Economic Studies of Pre-Amtrak Rail Passenger Service; Chapter II. The Amtrak Era: Transition and Postimplementation Studies; Chapter III. How Do Amtrak's Competitors Measure Up? Chapter IV. Amtrak's Critics: Are their Arguments Valid? Chapter V. Amtrak's Missed Opportunities; Chapter VI. Evaluating the Demand for Rail Passenger Service; Chapter VII. A Proposed Amtrak Network; Chapter VIII.
