Major traffic control items - their use and approval

This section outlines the procedures adopted by the Road Safety and Traffic Authority, Victoria in assessing applications from highway authorities for the establishment of major traffic control items, and reviews the standards to be used for their erection. Major traffic control items such as i) devices at intersections ie, stop signs, give way signs, protected intersection sign, give way to the right sign, traffic control signal (intersection) ii) devices at mid block ie, pedestrian crossing, school crossing, traffic control signal (pedestrian) iii) devices along routes ie, clearway, traffic control signal (lane control), speed restriction signs are discussed.
