THE HIGHER INITIAL COST OF DIESEL ENGINES MUST BE COMPARED WITH THEIR ADVANTAGES OF MAINTENANCE ECONOMY AND LONG LIFE. IN GENERAL, IN MEDIUM-DUTY TRUCKS OF 18,000 TO 23,000 GVS, GASOLINE ENGINES ARE MORE ECONOMICAL UP TO 20,000 MILES PER YEAR; WHILE IN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS, DIESEL OPERATION IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE UNDER 70,000 MILES PER YEAR.
