Abstract

The study investigates the effect of railway traffic at speeds over 120 km/h on existing bridges. It is thought that passenger trains being lighter, may travel at speeds up to 150 km/h without causing damage, but experience in Hungary and abroad has led to the conclusion that the maximum speed of freight trains on bridges should not exceed 120 km/h.
