Abstract
The National Aviation and Transportation Center at Dowling College has established the first Advanced Simulation System in the United States. This simulation laboratory is used for strategic planning and problem solving, system planning, facility design, special projects (people movers using magnetic levitation technology), terminal management and operations, surface movement control, public participation and conflict resolution, emergency preparedness and risk assessment, human factor issues, logistics, scheduling and economic development. This technology helps define the systems that enable transportation specialists to better understand the movement of vehicles, people, goods and information in a safe and efficient manner using risk free and less environmentally intrusive techniques.
