Abstract

The response spectrums of typical earthquake ground motions in Shanghai zone are analyzed and compared, and the site effects on seismic performance of bridges is observed and studied. The seismic performance of two important bridges in Shanghai is assessed under different earthquake waves with different potential earthquake sources and different grades. The bridges in Shanghai zone, as it showed with the results, should have higher seismic capacity than normal bridges. The response spectrum in seismic code for urban bridges should be modified adequately.
