Abstract
This report presents a summary of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) legislation, past Virginia transportation studies, and two Transportation Research Board (TRB) conferences on intermodal and multimodal transportation. The purpose is to reveal past practices and new opportunities in multimodal transportation planning in Virginia.
