Abstract
The author first reviews the role of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Bridge Committee in developing research. He discusses the activities of the AASHTO Research Sub-Committee, a part of the larger AASHTO Bridge Committee, which serves as a clearinghouse for research proposed by the various states. He also describes some research projects which are now underway.
