Abstract
A key characteristic which has emerged in infrastructure management system is the use of economic models at the network level (as opposed to project level) to help in evaluating program proposals and optimizing project selection and funding allocation. This paper uses selected examples of management system for highway to illustrate the range of techniques which are available and to explain how the decision environment affects the choice of methods.
