Abstract
The objective of this study was to monitor the change in the leaching conditions in slag and ash due to exposure in ambient conditions and to monitor the leached amounts of inorganic components in outdoor lysimeters and to compare these results with laboratory leaching tests. All materials retained water to a larger extent than expected. The water balance and especially evaporation from residues need to be further studied to explain the larger evaporation from these materials. It is possible that the amount of fines in the material is the most important factor controlling the leaching conditions and consequently the leaching from slag and ash.
