Abstract

In Finland, the development of the ITS infrastructure was initiated as a programme managed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The programme concentrates on a number of priority areas for public sector action to build up the ITS information infrastructure as well as national expertise and product development. As the programme is closing to its termination, it is now possible to assess the approach chosen, the relevance of the project areas prioritised three years ago, the fulfillment of the objectives of the programme and the end results of the projects. In all, the project areas have been relevant for the development of ITS in Finland. The programme seems also to meet most of the objectives set and many of the results have already led to actual development and implementation actions. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
