Abstract
Roller-compacted concrete is rapidly becoming a common construction material. It contains less cement than normal concrete and requires relatively simple placement equipment. It is often used for the construction of dams, where low binder contents are normally necessary to reduce the risk of thermal cracking. This article summarizes what is presently known on the three main aspects of the frost resistance of RCC: air entrainment, resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, and deicer salt scaling resistance.
